Our production: our German headquarters

We extract starch and protein from wheat, then refine them by modifying and mixing them into functional products for food and technical applications.

  • Plant size: 67,000 m²
  • Raw material use p.a.: 370,000 t of wheat
  • Energy efficiency of 92%. Natural gas-fueled CHP plants generate the required heat and electrical energy with the highest possible efficiency.
  • We use 99% of every wheat grain—we get the maximum out of the renewable raw material wheat.

Outstanding refining technologies: extrusion and modification

Extrusion

  • Since 1998, extrusion of wheat, cereals and other protein-rich raw materials into innovative products that differ in composition, shape, flavor, and texture
  • Technical center with laboratory extruder and ability to scale up on four modern production lines
  • Extrusion in the food industry is a complex thermomechanical process in which a product is pressed through a predefined opening using pressure and temperature, yet retains its shape at the end. Extrusion opens up a wide range of design possibilities for the end consumer product in terms of taste, shape, nutritional composition, bulk density, texture, and color.

Modification

  • Crespel & Deiters has specialized in the liquid modification of wheat starch for 45 years.
  • Our experienced R&D team develops new starch products that meet the requirements of our industrial customers.
